G. Raveendran

Dr. G. Raveendran is a statistician by education and practice. First rank holder in the Indian Statistical Service (ISS) exam in 1971 conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and a doctorate in Tourism Planning and Measurement Methods, he has held several prestigious positions in the Government of India and made significant contributions to the statistical system in the country. These include Head of the Market Research Division of the Ministry of Tourism, National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) and Central Statistical Organisation (CSO).
After his retirement from the post of Additional Director General, Central Statistical Organisation (CSO) he served at the National Commission for Un-Organised Sector as a Senior Consultant and at Kerala Statistical Institute as its Executive Chairman. He also has many publications to his credit. The Handbook on "Measurement of Domestic Tourism" prepared for the World Tourism Organisation has been published as a UN manual.
He is closely associated with the research activities of the LBC in such areas as Housing, Poverty and Women's Status and Empowerment.
